Blogs > It's Time To Take A Stand

Being a business theatre producer has allowed Brian the opportunity to meet and work with some very fascinating people from a variety of backgrounds which, in turn, has helped shape his knowledge and his opinions. His blog will not always be political, it will be about a lifetime of subjects, and nothing is off limits. “Few people have original thoughts, we are shaped by the people we know and meet” he says.

An open letter to the President

I received this in my email and decided to check out the validity and found it to be true. The author is a retired Proctor and Gamble vice president. Read it for yourself.

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America, and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and class, always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the blame America crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaugh’s, Hannity’s, O'Reilly’s and Beck’s who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Lou Pritchett

Mr. Pritchett is a former vice-president of Proctor and Gamble whose career at that company spanned 36 years before his retirement in 1989 and he is the author of the 1995 business book, Stop Paddling and Start Rocking the Boat.

Brian,

I read that Mr. Pritchett submitted this letter to the NYT and they wouldn't do anything with it. He also said that he's not the one who put it on the Internet. That speaks volumes.

I think that half of what he wrote applies to politicians in general but Mr. Pritchett is dead on accurate about the lack of information about the President's past, in particular his college financing, and his comment on the media implies something far more ominous than just one rogue politician. Perhaps that's why the NYT wouldn't publish this?

No surprise NYT would not publish it. It scares me that no one is up in arms about Mr. Pritchett's fears.
My only hope is that truth will win, eventually. It usually does.

I really like this post! I wanted to send this to you in an E-mail but I couldn't find it on your page!

I wanted to let you know about a special organization that is trying to raise money through the Pepsi Refresh project.

I volunteer for an organization called ArtRoad that brings art teachers to schools that have never had art programs. They are asking for $25k from Pepsi in order to hire three artists to be teachers at three different schools in Detroit. It would help over 1,000 children experience art in the classroom.

Here is the link:

Tell everyone you can it’s such a great organization!

Thanks so much!
Katie

Katie, I checked out your suggested website but I am not sure what it has to do with an "open letter to the President" but you already told people about the site.

Thanks for your comments.

I realize I am very late posting a comment to this blog but I thought that I would reply nevertheless. I am not scared of the President or his ideology or policies. What I find scary is the fact that a supposedly intelligent man such as Mr. Pritchett finds it acceptable to engage in the worst kind of fearmongering. Many of the statements Mr. Pritchett makes about President Obama could apply to most of the men who have served as President in the past. The other accusations have to be refuted as bald-faced lies and slurs against the President's character. If Mr. Pritchett doesn't know anything about the President then he hasn't been paying attention. If he doesn't know that the President paid for his education mainly through student loans, grants, and scholarships then he hasn't read much material on the President's life. To say the President is not "culturally" an American is to paint the President as an "other" which is the worst kind of fearmongering and a slap to anyone who has ever lived in another country and then moved back to America. The rest of the statements are an assault on the President's character and are totally baseless. After all, Mr. Pritchett states "I know nothing about you."; if that is true then how is he qualified to make assumptions about the President's character and mindset? Mr. Pritchett needs to turn off FAUX NEWS because his "letter" reads like something he parroted from one of the partisan pundits from that channel.
